THE LITTLE TREE CHURCH..

We ate at the Beach Pit BBQ last night (using our Plum District Daily Deal). This was actually our first time in this Old Town Shopping Center. What interested us the most was this little Church that didn't have a "name", and it wasn't open to the public. So I came home and looked it up, and you can read a little about the history of the "Little Tree Church". They even have weddings in there! read below....

1962

The "Little Tree Church," an eight-seat chapel in the parking lot of Jamestown Village on El Camino Real in Tustin, CA -- between Main and Sixth streets -- was constructed around an old oak tree after the completion of the shopping center in 1962. Builder C.T. Gilbreath had razed a Victorian home in order to build the center, but saved the oak tree. The chapel is a miniature version of a church in Tennessee his grandmother attended.

It seats eight people, has an organ. The pulpit is made of a large rock elevated on brick up to pulpit height.

The church is often used for weddings. The atmosphere here is more romantic than the large churches offer and the couple doesn’t have that big bill hanging over their heads to spoil the honeymoon.
Unfortunately, in about 2000, the old oak tree in middle of the "Little Tree Church" died and had to be removed. In 2005, the area around the church was landscaped and a camphor tree planted next to the church.

OODLES OF NOODLES... DEALS , FREE EVENTS, AND GIVEAWAY!

My husband got the kids addicted to this place called Pho Ha Noi which is Vietnamese food. They call it "the Noodle Place". I haven't had enough courage to try anything else there except what the kids eat. David gets a bowl called "Pho" which is typically a soup made with beef broth, chicken, and rice noodles(he gets egg noodles instead). It also comes with a plate of fresh herbs and spices to throw in the soup as well. The place is always packed so it must be pretty good!

This Vietnamese place is also right next to Baskin Robbins Ice cream, so I am trying to see if the kids are just tricking us that they LOVE the noodle place, or they just want Ice cream afterwards LOL.

So next time, I'll say "ok we can go to the Noodle Place but... no Ice Cream..And see what they say. :)

118 DEGREES, LIKE OR DISLIKE? FREE EVENTS, FREEBIES, AND DEALS

Last night we used our livingsocial deal for 2 entrees , and 2 glasses of wine(we got tea instead), at 118 degrees in Costa Mesa. This was my first time ever eating "raw food".  My entree was the "trio Enchiladas".
Tres Enchiladas with 3 distinct flavors, served with Tomatillo Salsa, Macadamia Sour Cream, and Chef salad. 118 Degrees is 100% plant based living food. I have to say I have no idea what inspired me to snag this deal, but I was quite impressed when I dug into my raw enchiladas .My favorite was the Avocado with mushroom. The prices were quite high, so I would suggest waiting until you got a deal to try it out. The place is also very small, so call ahead to make a reservation. When the waiter came with these two big covered black boxes, I thought he was bringing a Tea box for david to pick another tea, but it was our plates. LOL. I totally got a good laugh at that! Oh , and you kow how they have salt and pepper at the table in restaurants? well there was a little "red shaker" and david was quite curious as to what it was. he sprinkled a ton of it on his hand and tried it. With a surprised look on his face "It's Cayan Pepper". Aww poor Guy!

Overall it was actually fun trying something totally out of my realm, and not being totally dissapointed. Like I said I wouldn't recommend it unless you snatched a deal from Groupon or one of those daily deal sites.

Lastly the fun of the night was me trying so hard to figure out what this silver wand that the lady next to us was waving over her food and drink. I wanted to ask her so bad, but didn't want to interrupt her routine of waving it over a few times and then her and her "friend" putting their arms over each other. David mentioned it must be a religion ritual thing. So, on the way home I  looked it up and finally figured it out that it was a "sanitizing wand". have you ever heard of such a thing?? It is made with a UV light that is supposed to kill any kind of germs or bacteria. I would LOVE to know what your opinion is on this!! ** JUST FOR LAUGHS- you know how days can be just one thing after another happening to you.. well yesterday was one of those dayS. it started in the morning when I realized that my half and half was dated "best if used by April 18th, 2011. I survived, but ewww!!, then since I am working on potty training my son.. RIGHT AFTER David went out the front door, he had a huge #2 accident(just my luck).. then we went to dinner, enjoying our bread and at cute little Italian restaurant, and I went to grab the bowl from David and it caught the straw of my Iced Tea, and I can see it sliding across the table right onto my lap, but I just couldn't catch it fast enough. It was all over my pants and shirt! Yes, it looked like I had just peed my pants. People would kindly smile at me while I was leaving the bathroom, but I know what they were REALLY thinking! go ahead, LAUGH AWAY!!**
